A conference week, and what it does to a date
A conference week is one of the large trade weeks that fill the city, and it counts as a peak date, so an evening inside one is worth fixing early.
Amsterdam fills several times a year, and for a couple on a working trip the filling is usually the reason they are here. A large trade week, a congress that takes over the exhibition halls in the south, a sector gathering that books out the centre: each of these counts here as a peak date.
What a peak date changes
Two things, and neither of them is the fee. First, an advance half is asked for whatever the length and however short the notice. Second, the evenings inside such a week are spoken for earlier than usual, so a date named on the Monday behaves quite differently from the same date asked about on the Thursday.
What it does not change
The figures in each profile. There is no peak rate, no event surcharge, and no travel charge inside the city during a busy week. The arrival window is the same forty to sixty minutes it is in a quiet February.
The other peak dates

Booking against one
Write early with a date and an hour, even if the hour is provisional, and use the free change of date later if the programme moves. That sequence costs nothing and it is the difference between choosing an evening and taking whatever is left of the week.
