Overnight massage in Amsterdam on the weekend you added

The overnight takes eight hours in one piece rather than as an hourly rate left running until somebody checks the time, and for a couple it is quoted as one sum, with a therapist each costing more than twice the shared version. On a working trip it has one natural home: the added weekend, when the fair has closed, the flight home is Sunday afternoon and nothing is printed against Saturday night. Where in the night the eight hours sit is your decision, and the only genuine constraint is the room, because the block has to end before checkout and Sunday checkout arrives earlier than anybody plans for. The reason it is priced as a block is that a night charged by the hour makes people watch a clock, and watching a clock is the one thing this booking is arranged to remove. The therapist in the room decides what her session includes and says where her limits are before it begins.

Origins

Long bookings are the oldest arrangement in this trade and the block price is the modern part of it. Charging by the hour came in with the appointment book, and it works for an hour and stops working across a night, because it converts a night into an arithmetic problem that one person in the room is always quietly solving. Pricing the whole thing at one figure is a deliberate reversal of that, and it is how nearly every practice that offers a night now handles it.

The technique

Across eight hours the pacing matters more than any individual technique, and she will run the night in several shorter stretches rather than as one long session, because hands and bodies both need the breaks. Expect oil work as the backbone with whatever else the two of you asked for placed inside it. A block is also the one booking where a format that needs a bathroom becomes practical, since there is time to use one without the end of the evening arriving.

What to expect

It is not eight hours of continuous work and nobody would want it to be. A block is a night with a shape: work, rest, conversation, more work, sleep for whoever wants it. She brings enough for the length, including a change of clothes, and the first half hour looks like any other session. What differs is that nothing after that is measured. Couples who book it describe the middle stretch as the part they remember, when the evening has stopped being an appointment and has become simply a night in which somebody else is in the room. She says at the start what her limits are and what her own night includes, and those hold for the full eight hours.

Who it suits

The Saturday of an added weekend. Couples with a late Sunday flight and a checkout they have already extended. Two people who have spent a week apart on somebody else's schedule and want the correction to be more than ninety minutes long. It is not a weekday booking and nobody should try to make it one.

Benefits

It removes the clock, which on a trip organised entirely around other people's timetables is the whole of the point. It also removes the small transaction at the end of the evening, because the night ends when the block ends rather than at a moment somebody has to announce.

Length

Eight hours, quoted as one sum rather than counted off by the hour. The pair of you sharing one therapist pays double what a single guest would, and a therapist each costs more than twice the shared block. Half the block confirms it whatever the notice, and the remainder is paid on her arrival.

Questions

Does the block have to start at a particular time?

No. Eight hours starting at nine end at five; starting at eleven they end at seven. Place them where the room and the Sunday allow, and count backwards from checkout rather than forwards from dinner, because the room is what runs out first.

What happens if we fall asleep in the middle of it?

People do, and it is not a problem. The block runs as booked and nobody is woken to be told the time. If there is an hour in the morning either of you has to be up for, say so when she arrives and the night is paced against it.

Can we end it early if we have had enough?

You can end a session at any point and the full fee for the booked time remains payable. The hours were held, the journey was made, and what is left of them cannot be offered to anybody else at that hour. Past the fee for the reserved time, nothing further is added.

Is the block quoted for both of us or for one?

It comes in four versions: the pair of you on one therapist, a single guest on one, a couple given a therapist each, and one guest given two. The shared block for a couple is exactly twice the single one. Say in the first message which of the four you mean, because they need different amounts of notice.
